(a) Technical Inspections
-
Inspectors of the Electrical
Installations of the Licensees/Sanctionees and Kerala State
Electricity Board under Rule 29 of the Indian Electricity Rules, 1956.
-
Scrutiny of the methods of
constructions of the Power Stations, if any by the Sanctionees, High
Voltage lines and Sub-stations of the Sanctionees and licensees.
-
Scrutiny of the proposals of H.V.
consumers for new installations as well as additions and alterations
to the existing installation under Rule 63 & 64 of Indian Electricity
Rules, 1956.
-
Inspections and issue of safety
certificate for commissioning equipments in power stations,
substations of licensees, consumers and also that of K.S.E.B
Sub-Stations.
-
Annual inspections of all H.V.
Consumer's installations & K.S.E.B. Power Stations, Sub-stations
and on a phased programme of the distribution transformer stations and
H.V. lines.

Scrutiny of the proposals and
inspection of generating sets installed in consumer's premises and
issue of safety certificate for commissioning under Rules 47 A and 135
of Indian Electricity Rules, 1956.

Scrutiny of the proposals and
inspection of neon-signs & X-ray units and issue of safety
certificate as per Rules 71 and 73 of the Indian Electricity Rules,
1956.
-
Carrying out high voltage acceptance
tests on generators of new power stations of the K.S.E.B. &
testing of Sub-standard meters, disputed meter and meters transformer
oil samples, rubber gloves and fire extinguishers.

Control of the transmission and use of
energy by non-licensees under section 30 of Indian Electricity Act.

Inspection of the electrical
installations and fire precautionary measures in the Cinema Theatres
and issue of certificates in this regard under the Kerala Cinema
(Regulation) Rules, 1988.

Accounts Relating To The Electrical Duty
(c) Issue Of
Competency Certificate, Licenses.

Issue of Electrical
Contractor's License.

Issue of Competency
certificates and Permits to Supervisors and Wireman.

Discharge of the duties
and functions of the Licensing Board under the Kerala State Electricity
Licensing Board Rules, 1975.

Issue of 'C' Class
Electrical Contractor's License.
(d) General

Investigation of
Electrical Accidents.

Launching prosecutions in
request of offences under the Indian Electricity Act.

Arbitration of dispute
arising between the licensees and consumers.

Advising Government
regarding acquisition of electrical undertakings.

Discharge all other duties
and responsibilities as may be prescribed and specifically cast on the
inspector under the various Act. & Rules, there under.

Advising Government on all
other matters relating to Electricity.

Energy Audit of HT/EHT
industries has been made mandatory by Government and this Department is
authorised as the nodal agency to implement the same and report to
Government.
Calibration and Testing Facilities at Meter Testing and
Standards Laboratory
Under Department of Electrical Inspectorate.

Calibration of Calibrators using Multifunction Transfer
Standard, Transferring traceable accuracy directly to the calibrators.

Calibration of Multimeter, Ammeter, Voltmeter,
Wattmeter, Frequency Meter, Ohm Meters using Universal calibrator.

Calibration of energy meter single phase, three phase,
all types including static and digital type.

Harmonic analysis upto 50th harmonics in system. Data
logging facility also available.

Relay testing:- All type of relays, including
micro-processors relays, can be tested either by secondary injection or
by primary injection.
